Wakefield Ruritan Club
Celebrating 80 Years of Goodwill, Fellowship and Community Service!
The Wakefield Ruritan Club was established in 1929 for the purpose of creating a better understanding among people and through volunteer community service, making the Wakefield Community a better place in which to live and work.
“Ruritan is a national organization dedicated to improving communities and building a better America through Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service.”
In 1949, the Wakefield Ruritan Club assumed sponsorship of Shad Planking. Through the sponsorship of this annual event, the Club is able to further its mission of community service. All of the funds raised are invested within the Wakefield Community and support such community organizations as Wakefield Youth Baseball/Softball, Wakefield Foundation, Wakefield Fire Department, Rescue Squads. Wakefield Food Pantries, Tidewater Academy, 4-H, and many others.
Meetings of the Wakefield Ruritan Club are held on the 3rd Monday of each month. For more information about the Wakefield Ruritan Club, please contact Club President, David Vick, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
